How to use the results

The cheapest quote is a starting point, not a verdict.

Two campervans at the same price can be very different products. In the rental terms we reviewed for our five-company shortlist, the gaps hide in the same places every time: whether a heater and bedding are included, what the collision damage waiver's self-risk is, and which damage types stay excluded no matter how much protection you buy.

So run the search with your real dates, shortlist two or three results, then check each one against three questions: What protection is included, and with what self-risk? Is the van equipped for your season — heating matters outside high summer? And are there mandatory fees the headline price leaves out?

When two specific companies make your shortlist, our head-to-head pages do this work for you — Happy Campers vs KuKu, CampEasy vs Happy Campers and KuKu vs Go Campers.

1 · Search your dates

Prices in Iceland swing hard with demand. The same van can cost a multiple of its shoulder-season price in late July, so always compare with your actual dates.

2 · Check what's in the price

Included protection, its self-risk, heating, bedding and mandatory fees decide the real total. Our insurance guide explains each coverage type in plain language.

3 · Budget the whole trip

The van is only part of it. Put your quote into the cost calculator with fuel, campsites and road fees to see what the week actually costs.

Frequently asked questions

Does booking through this search cost more?

No. The search shows each company's own price for your dates, and you pay the same as booking anywhere else. If you book after using it we may earn a commission from the marketplace — that is how this site is funded, and it never changes the price you pay.

Which rental companies does the search cover?

The search is operated by Northbound, an Icelandic marketplace with contracts across dozens of local rental companies — from budget campervans to 4x4 campers and motorhomes. It does not cover every company in Iceland: some, like the five on our editorial shortlist, also take direct bookings on their own sites, which is why we link both.

Why do campervan prices in Iceland vary so much?

Dates dominate: July and August carry the highest demand, and shoulder-season weeks can cost a fraction of peak summer. On top of that, vehicle class, transmission, protection level and extras like bedding or Wi-Fi change the total — which is why two quotes for the same week can differ widely and still both be correct.

Should I compare anything besides the headline price?

Yes — the headline price is where comparison starts, not where it ends. Check what protection is included and its self-risk, whether a heater and bedding are included, and any mandatory fees. Our insurance guide and head-to-head company comparisons cover exactly these gaps.
